생명의 가지

 ‘생명의 가지’는 세 개의 다른 구조물들이 삼각형을 이루도록 배치된 설치작품이다. 각 구조물은 나뭇가지들을 수평으로 배열하여 만든 지붕을 가지고 있고 해먹을 매달아 놓아 관람자들이 그 위에 편히 드러누워 하늘과 나무 구조물을 바라볼 수 있게 한다.

나무의 일부인 나뭇가지들은 생명을 상징한다. 또한 강이 바다에 합류하는 삼각주나 체내의 혈액순환을 관장하는 모세혈관 같은 생명의 분기(分岐)를 연상시킨다. 번개와 같은 파괴적 현상 역시 자연에서의 분기를 보여준다. -자연에서 삶과 죽음은 비슷한 형식으로 나타난다. 원목이나 대나무로 만들어진 이 구조물의 나뭇가지들은 보는 이로 하여금 자연스레 우리 삶과 자연의 순환에 대해 생각하게 한다. 반복적으로 나타나는 형상들은 어떤 프랙탈적인 패턴을 만든다. 나뭇가지들은 우리 생명의 근간인 물, 혹은 엽록소나 혈맥을 나타내는 색으로 칠해질 계획이지만, 이것은 설치 장소의 상황에 따라 바뀔 수도 있다.

세모꼴 배열은 하늘을 바라보고 자연의 소리를 들으며 편히 누운 상태에서 가벼운 대화부터 철학적 토론까지 할 수 있도록 유도한다. 또한 자연 속에서 명상에 잠기는 장소로 사용될 수도 있다. 분지 구조와 리좀의 구조에서 사람들은 소우주와 대우주를 동시에 느낄 수도 있을 것이다.

life ramifications

„life ramifications“ is an installationproposal of three varying constractions, which will be placed in a triangular way to each other. Each contruction has a „roof“ of horizontally placed branches and a hammock inside which invites the visitors to relax and look up inmto the sky and the branch contructions.

Branches as a part of a tree are a symbol of life and the remind as well to ramifications of life like water deltas which are leading the rivers into the sea, or capilars as well, which are the exchange point of our blood circulation. Destructive elements like lightnings also show these ramifications in nature - life and death in nature are represented by similar structures. The branches included into the contructions - made by timber or bamboo - might inspire the visitor to think about our circle of life and nature, its canon of repeating shapes, which are following a certain fractal life pattern.

The branches could be painted decently with the colours, symbolizing water – which is the base for life - chlorophyll and blood, but not nessesarily; it also depends on the site.

The triangular situation invites also to start dialogues and philosophical discussions in a relaxed way by looking into the sky and listening to nature sounds, but it also could be used just for meditation in nature. Ramification structures and rhizomes you can find in micro and macro cosmos at the same time.
