<순환 Circle>

나의 작품은 두개의 반원형 계단으로 이루어져있다. 계단이란 위로 올라가거나 아래로 내려가기 위한 구조물이지만 이곳의 두 계단은 그와 같은 이동을 허락하지 않는다. 어디로도 가닿지 않고 점차 사라지며 다만 회전하는 계단은 상승과 하강의 움직임을 동시에 나타내며, 그렇게 끊임없이 회전하는 운동성을 표현한다. 마주보지만 이어지고, 올라가지만 내려가는 이 모순적인 순환의 공간은 천년의 시간을 넘어 자연과 인간, 과거와 현재를 잇는 영원의 여행으로 우리를 초대한다.

My work consists of two semicircle-shaped staircases. While stairway is the structure to go up or down, these two staircases do not allow such movements. They do not reach any destination, and slowly disappear. Spiraling two stairways express rise and decline at the same time, and continuously rotating movement. The contradictory cycling space where one faces but also continues, and goes up, but also down invites us to the journey of eternity linking nature and humans and past and present over the time of a thousand years.
