정원 복원 Garden Reconstruction

‘정원의 복원’은 수 년간의 도시화와 자연훼손으로 완전히 파괴된 지역을 재건함으로써, ‘또 다른 조우가 있는 신섞기시대’를 상징하고 예견하는 작업으로, 이는 앞으로도 계속해서 일어날 것이다. 외관은 거친 금속육면체로서, 온전히 비계작업을 통해 만들어진다. 정원은 보통 지지대로 사용되는 이 재료를 그 자체의 구조물로서 사용한다. 전통적 문양과 비슷한 형식을 취함으로써, 인간미 없어 보이는 이 물체에 친근함을 부여한다. 동시에, 파괴된 지역에 대한 재건작업에 있어서, 전통적 가치를 유지하는 것의 중요성을 지적한다. 구조물 안으로 들어간 관람객은 계단을 올라 전망대에 도달하게 된다. 그곳에서 관람객은 감추어진 정원을 발견한다. 적극적인 방식으로 폐허의 재건과 도시의 재탄생과 같은 아름다움을 상징한다. 여기서, 관람객들은 공간과 정원, 그 주변을 경험하게 된다. 다음 단계의 여정은 정원으로 내려가는 것이다. 금강의 자연 식물로 구성된 이 정원은, 관람객들로 하여금 충분히 보존할 만한 가치를 지닌 이 지역의 소중한 것들에 대해 떠올리게 한다. 이곳은 사색과 감상의 공간이다. 온전히 비계작업과 토착 야생식물로 이루어진 이 구조물은 완벽히 재사용과 재조립이 가능하기 때문에, 사실상 쓰레기를 거의 생산하지 않는다.

‘Reconstruction of Garden’ is a symbol and a prediction of ‘Neomixed Era with Neobalanced Encounter’ throughout the rebuilding of the devastated areas affected by years of urbanisation and nature degradation, that will take place in the following years. The exterior view is a harsh metal cube build entirely out of scaffolding. Typically used as support, Garden uses this material as a structure of its own. Shaped to the similarity of traditional patterns, it brings familiarity to this impersonal object, while, at the same time, pointing out the importance of maintaining traditional values in fast (re)construction during the development of destroyed areas. As the visitor enters the structure he walks ups a flight of stairs leading to a viewing platform. There he finds a hidden garden, revealing that, this aggressive element, is a symbol for something beautiful, the reconstruction of ruins, the rebirth of cities. Here he has time and distance to experience the space, the garden and its surroundings. The next step of the journey is descending to the garden. Consisting of plants originary of Geumgang Nature, it reminds the visitor of the precious things these regions have that can never be taken away and are worth preserving. It is a space of contemplation and appreciation. Entirely made of scaffolding standard pieces and native plants, the pavilion is completely reusable and re-assemblable, producing virtually no waste.
