플라잉

이 작업은 새싹의 이미지를 모티프로 한다. 새싹은 대부분의 식물이 포함하는 발생 초기에 해당하는 형태다. 계속 진행 중인 나의 작업에서 시각적으로 보여주고자 하는 부분은 정적인 이미지의 식물인동적인 이미지의 동물의 형태를 드러내도록 하는데 있다. 이는 하나의 존재가 꼭 하나의 의미만을 갖는것이 아니라 그것이 보이는 대표 이미지를 벗어나, 다른 존재의 속성을 갖거나, 다중적 의미를 포함할 수 있음을 표현하고자 하는 것이다. 수직으로 자라나 부동의 형태인 듯 보이는 식물은 사실상 천천히 움직이고 있는 것이기에 일반적으로 생각되는 동적인 특성이 비단 동물만의 특성이라고 할 수는 없지만, 수직의 형태를 가로로 띄우면 곤충과 같은 비행하는 동물의 형태를 지니게 되고 동세와 운동감이 크게 강조된다. 이러한 특징은 본인의 작업에서 유연성이 드러나는 뜨개질의 방식으로 만들어지는데, 무생물인 알루미늄 와이어를 사용하여 역설적으로 자연물(생물)의 의미를 부여하고 그를 통해, 주제의 다양성과 작품과 관객의 상호 작용에 관한 가능성을 제공하고자 한다.

Flying

This personal ongoing project is to visually explore and contrast images from animals with that of the more stationary. The main theme in my works is the 'sprout'. The 'sprout' is, of course, the shape of most plant life in the early stages of its growth. Furthermore, vertically growing plants look stationary but are in fact slowly moving. This is the reason why I can not say that movement is only in the nature of animals. However, if these sprouts are grown horizontally it will have a much more similar shape and movement to that of an animal such as a dragon-flay horizontally these sprout are able to show their animalistic movement that are lost on the vertical plane. This personal journey is demonstrate the relationship between the movement of plants and animals. Almost paradoxically I show this connection between these two living things using inanimate metal wire and knitting.
