황철석 Pyrite

황철석 결정체는 상당히 진귀한 자연적인 입체 기하학으로 만들어진다. 실제로 자연에서 사각형 황철석 결정체를 찾기가 어려운데, 이는 사각형 결정체가 원보다 덜 강하고 삼각형보다 덜 안정되기 때문이다. 이런 이유로 황철석 결정체는 아주 흥미롭게 보인다. 내가 비엔날레에 대비해 구상하는 프로젝트는 단단한 작은 돌 위에다 셸터를 만드는 것인데, 그 모양을 황철석 결정체 모양으로 할 생각이다.

Pyrite crystals are made of a quite rare natural cubist geometry. Indeed it’s difficult to find square shapes in nature because it’s less strong than the circle and less stable than the triangle. That’s why pyrite crystals look so intriguing. My project for the Biennale consists of a shelter placed on a small solid rock whose shape will remind a pyrite crystal.
