회귀, 부활 Return, Reborn

회복과 소망을 꿈꾸기 위해, 우리는 과거 자연과의 조화와 균형 속에서 삶과 생산을 영위했던 시절로 회귀하기 위한 잠을 자야 한다. 꿈의 상태에서 ‘신석기시대’로의 회귀를 통해, 우리는 인생이라는 그물망 안에서 우리 자신의 위치를 기억하게 될 것이다. 우리가 이러한 체화된 이해를 가지고 현재로 돌아왔을 때, 우리는 21세기 기술력과 과학적 이해를 바탕으로 그것과 통합하기 위한 방안을 구할 수 있다.

회귀와 부활은 흙과 나무로 이루어진 조형물이다. 이를 통해, 우리는 한쪽 면을 통해 안으로 들어가, 중심부에 도달할 때까지 어두운 흙 안쪽으로 더 깊이 들어간다. 중심부는 완벽히 고요하고 빛도 어둑하지만 편안하다. 이 중심부는 흙의 포근함을 느끼며 당신이 휴식을 취하고 꿈을 꿀 수 있도록 돕는다. 이 중심부를 벗어나 출구로 나오면, 이곳에선 본질적으로 현재의 시간으로 다시 태어나게 된다. 모든 것이 같지만 새롭게 보인다. 우리는 앞으로 전진하기 위해 뒤로 돌아갈 필요가 있다.

To dream of recovery and hope we must first sleep with the aim of returning to the time that we lived and produced in harmony and balance with nature. Through this returning to the ‘New Stone Age’ within our dream state we may come to remember our place within the web of life instead of outside of it. As we return to the present with this embodied understanding we can then seek to integrate it with our 21st century technologies and scientific understandings.

Return, reborn is an earth and wood sculpture that invites us to enter from one side moving deeper into the earth and darkness until you reach the center where it is completely silent and dimly lit but comfortable. This central area encourages you to rest and perhaps dream, to feel the earths embrace before moving on to the exit where you are essentially re born into the present. Everything is the same but it is also new. We need to go back to move forwards.
