불가사리의 침입 Starfish Invasion

생물학적 침입은 종종 사람에 의해 발생하는데, 여기저기 여행을 하는 사람들이 그곳에 원래부터 속하지 않았던 종을 들여오는 경우이다. 그것은 신석기시대에 바퀴가 발명되면서 시작되었다. 지구온난화는 사람이 만든 산업과 이동수단, 그리고 일반적 소비태도가 초래한 직접적 결과이다. 이는 끊임없이 더 빨리 돌아가는 회전목마이다. 생물학적 침입은 몇몇의 호수와 바다에서도 목격된 바 있다. (예를 들면, 대보초(Great Barrier Reef)에 침입한 불가사리 또는 노르웨이의 피오르드에 침입한 해파리가 있다. 어떤 종들은 너무 빨리 성장해 동/식물상의 균형을 무너뜨리기 시작하며, 보통 추운 지역에선 기후가 따뜻해지거나 천적이 없다는 이유로 이러한 영향이 오랜 기간 지속된다.).

내 프로젝트의 발상은 다수의 대나무 고리로 만들어진 각기 다른 불가사리(이상적으로는 7마리, 적어도 5마리)를 이용해, 호수에서의 불가사리가 침입하는 상황을 만드는 것이다. 이들은 멀리서도 볼 수 있도록 색상을 입힌 후, 수성 아크릴 니스로 칠을 입힐 것이다.

이들은 떠내려가지 않도록 밧줄과 바위로 바닥에 고정시킨다. 여기서 가운데 구멍이 뚫려있는 벽돌을 사용하면, 작업이 훨씬 수월해진다. 이러한 침입은 육지에서도 계속될 수 있는데, 돌연변이는 산림 경관을 장악하기 시작한다. 이는 인간이 초래한 생물학적 침입을 상기시키는 경고로서의 역할을 할 것이다.

Biological invasions are often caused by men who started to travel around and who brought species to places where they are naturally not belonging to. It started with the invention of the wheel during the Neolithic era. The global warming is a direct consequence caused by men-made industry and mobility and the general consumption attitude, which is a carousel which is spinning faster continuously. Biological invasions had been observed in several lakes and the sea as well (for example the starfish invasion of the Great Barrier Reef or a jellyfish invasion in a Norwegian fjord, some species are growing so fast and start to harm the balance of the flora and fauna with an enduring effect due to missing natural enemies or a warming up climate in usually colder areas.

The idea of my project is, creating a starfish invasion for a lake with a couple of different starfishes (at least five, ideally seven), made of numerous bamboo rings. Those will be varnished with water-based acrylic varnish after to give it a colour and visibility from far.

They will be fixed with rope and stone anchors on the ground, to avoid that they are floating away - maybe brick stones with a hole in die middle which makes it easier to handle. This invasion can be continued to the land – like mutations who are starting to take over the forestal landscape too. It will function as a warning and reminder of men-made biological invasions.
