​<“우리”는 어떻게 태어났는가? How “We” were Born>

만약 재야생화가 자연을 야생 상태로 보존하는 진보적인 방법이라면, 우리는 인간이 소비하고 이용하는 온갖 방법을 통해 얼마나 급격하게 자연을 장악했는지를 점검해 볼 필요가 있다. 우리는 또한 변이를 담당했고, 다른 자연이 변이를 일으키도록 내버려 두지 않았으며, 또한 통제할 수 없다는 점을 이해하지 못했다. 우리는 단순한 생존을 넘어 권력을 장악하고 좀 더 강해지기 위해서 진화해왔다. 우리는 오랜 세월 전염병들을 목격해 왔지만, 바이러스도 변이할 수 있다는 것을 깨닫지 못했다.

인도는 지금 코로나바이러스의 다양한 돌연변이를 경험하고 있다. 마치 자연이 아주 빠르게 인간을 다시 점령하는 것 같다. 우리는 우리 몸속에 여러 종류의 박테리아가 살고 있다는 것을 알고 있다. 그리고 우리는 그 박테리아와 싸우고 있다. 그러나 우리가 그것을 깨닫고 있는가?

피보나치(Fibonacci), 황금비율은 피사의 수학자 레오나르도(Leonardo)가 발견한 수열이다. 그러나 이것은 또한 BC 200년경 인도의 시인이자 수학자 핀갈라(Pingala)가 여러 가지 무늬에 대한 산스크리트어 시에서 언급한 것이기도 하다.

이 형태는 나무에서 가지가 생기는 것, 엄마의 자궁에 태아가 생기는 것 등 생물학적 형태에서 나타난다.

우리는 “우리”가 어떻게 태어났는지를 기억하기 위해서 자신을 들여다볼 필요가 있다.

내가 제안한 작품은 한 그루의 나무 주변에 만들어진다. (한 그루 이상이면 더 근사하게 보일 수 있다). 이것은 애벌레의 번데기가 변태를 위한 가지를 선택하듯이, 공존을 모색하기 위한 시도이다.

If rewilding is a progressive approach to conserve nature as wild, we must have a quick look into and check how rapidly we have taken over the nature by every means of consumption and exploitation. We mutated to become stronger to gain power beyond just a survival and existence. We also took the charge on mutation and did not let the other nature to let mutation, yet we failed to understand that we can not control. We have been witnessing, pandemics, since ages, and yet not recognizing, a virus can also mutate.

India, my country is facing multiple mutation of the Covid now, I see the struggle of surviving. This seems like the nature is taking over rapidly, like rewilding. We forgot how we took birth after we grew up and saw the development around. We know that the presence of crores of bacteria inside us, who are actually our source of survival, whom, right now we have kept on war. But are we recognizing it?

Fibonacci, a quarterly golden ratio, a discovery of numbers and form by a mathematician Leonardo of Pisa, and was also described in Indian Mathematics by Pingala in 200 BC in the Sanskrit Poetry on enumerating possible patterns.

The formation strongly appears on biological patterns like of branching of a tree to a fetus in mother’s womb, hence it is entering into my proposal.

We must peep into ourselves to remember, how “we” were born.

Proposed sculpture is created around a tree (choosing more than one tree will look much better) is an attempt to create a coexistence like how a pupa of a caterpillar chooses branch for metamorphosis!
