지구 온난화 및 기후변화

이 작품은 지구 온난화를 야기하고 물의 순환을 교란하는 코끼리로 상징되는 인간의 탐욕을 묘사하고 있다. 그 결과는 점점 줄어가는 빙하로 나타나는 기후변화이다.

물의 순환: 지구상에서 전체 물의 양은 고정적이다. 그러나 그 물이 얼음, 민물, 바닷물, 그리고 공기 속의 수증기로 나누어지는 비율은 기후라는 요소 때문에 다양하다. 물리적 과정에 의해, 물은 강에서 바다로, 바다에서 대기로 이동한다.

물의 순환을 만드는 태양은 바다에 있는 물을 데워 수증기로 증발시킨다.

이 수증기는 눈으로, 해일로, 진눈깨비로 내려 얼음, 빙하로 변하여 수천 년간 물을 저장할 수 있다.

증가하는 수자원의 변화와 기후변화에 대한 충분한 증거가 있으며, 이것은 물의 순환을 통해 엄청난 영향을 미치고 있다.

빙하가 줄어드는 것 또한 물의 순환구조가 변하고 있다는 하나의 예이다. 빙하에 공급되는 물의 양보다 녹는 양이 더 많다. 1850년 이래로 광범위하게 빙하가 줄어가고 있다.

GLOBAL WARMING & CLIMATE CHANGE

This work depicts the greed of humanity symbolized by the elephant causing Global warming and this is disrupting the water cycle and the result is climate change depicted by retreating glaciers represented by empty Kumbhs(Utensils).

The water cycle:The mass of water on Earth remains fairly constant over time but the partitioning of the water into the major reservoirs of ice, fresh water, saline water and atmospheric water is variable depending on a wide range of climatic variables. The water moves from one reservoir to another, such as from river to ocean, or from the ocean to the atmosphere, by the physical processes.

The sun, which drives the water cycle, heats water in oceans and seas. Water evaporates as water vapor into the air.

Some precipitation falls as snow or hail, sleet, and can accumulate as ice caps and glaciers, which can store frozen water for thousands of years.

There is now ample evidence that increased hydrologic variability and change in climate has and will continue to have a profound impact on the water sector through the water cycle.

Glacial retreat is also an example of a changing water cycle, where the supply of water to glaciers from precipitation cannot keep up with the loss of water from melting and sublimation. Glacial retreat since 1850 has been extensive.
