​<나무 토템 Tree Totem>

내 작품은 나무 토템이다. 이것은 큰 나무에서 깎아낸 목재 작품이다. 그루터기일 수도 있고, 통나무일 수도 있다. 작품은 퓨즈박스, 전기 커넥터, 전선, 마이크로 전기 스테이션, 수도관 같은 현대 사회에는 작동하게 하는 요소들이지만 감추어져 있는 잡다한 것들을 나타낸다.

목재 구조 제작만으로 작품이 완성되는 것은 절대 아니다. 시간이 흐르면서 나무에 사는 곤충, 곰팡이, 새들에 의해 작품이 완성될 것이다. 작품이 완성되는 시기가 정해져 있진 않다. 이 작품은 인간의 창의성과 생산적인 방향으로 자연과 상호작용의 가능성에 헌정하고자 한다.

The title of my work is tree totem and it is a wooden sculpture carved out of one large piece, either a wooden stump or a tree log. It represents a conglomeration of usually hidden objects that make our modern society possible such as fuseboxes, electrical connections, power cables, micro electrical stations and waterpipes.

But the artwork is by far finished when the wooden sculpture is made. Then time and nature with treeliving insects, different fungus and birds will complete the artwork over time. The artwork will never be definitely completed in one fixed form but will be completed with all its shifting characters over time. It is a tribute to the human creativity and the possibility to interact with nature in a fruitful way.
