내 작품은 한국에서 가장 오래된 울주군 천전리 암각화에 새겨진 아기의 탄생을 기원하는 추상화와 관계가 있다. 이 신성한 장소는 수천 년간의 선사시대 한국 문화를 담고 있다. 그중에는 생명의 윤회와 가족에 대한 추상화들이 있다.

아기의 탄생을 기원하는 암각화를 보고 영감을 얻어, 나는 바닥에 3m~5m 정도의 큰 선들을 조각하고, 대략 300개 정도의 껍질을 벗긴 둥근 통나무들을 촘촘히 박아서 직경 70cm, 100cm 되는 3개의 원을 새길 것이다. 각 통나무는 직경 10cm~15cm 정도, 길이는 대략 50cm가 될 것이다. 각 통나무의 20cm는 땅에 묻고, 30cm는 지상으로 드러나게 할 것이다.

통나무들 위에 세 개의 원판을 얹고, 내부는 거울로 장식할 것이다. 관람객들은 자기 자신에게로 되돌아가는 느낌을 경험하게 될 것이다.

My work relates the abstract representation of a birth that comes from the oldest petroglyphs in Korea, from Cheonjeon-ri.

This sacred site contains thousands of years of priceless prehistoric Korean culture, including many abstract representations of the cycle of life and the family.

Based on this petroglyphs of birth, I will build a floor sculpture in form of large lines between 3m and 5m long and three circles with diameters of 70cm and 100cm, made of approx. 300 round, debarked logs, placed and lined up next to each other. Each of these should have a diameter of 10cm–15cm and be 50cm long.

The individual logs will be buried 20cm into the ground and protrude 30cm from the earth.

The tree circles at the ends will have a raised base with mirror pieces on the inside. For the viewer, a return to oneself.
