하나의 세상
인류는 세계 곳곳에서 자연을 손상시키고 있다. 우리는 자연이 커다란 위기에 처해 있다는 것을 알고 있다. 점점 더 많은 사람들이 도시로 이주하고 있으며, 이로써 우리는 자연의 야생적 삶에서 점점 더 멀어지고 있다. 어딘가에 모두를 위한 – 인간과 새와 가장 작은 벌레들을 비롯한 모든 동물들을 위한 자리가 있어야 한다는 생각을 해야 한다. 우리는 서로 동떨어진 세계에 살고 있는 걸까? 사람들은 산업화된 도시라는 세계 속에, 자연은 다른 세상 속에, 너무나 많은 자동차들이 돌아다니고 엄청난 매연이 크고 작은 생명들을 파괴하고 있다. 하지만 사실상 우리는 하나의 세상에서 살아가고 있으며 따라서 그 모두를 위한 미래를 생각해야 한다.
‘반쪽 나무’는 이 동떨어진 두 세계, 모두가 존재하고 생존할 권리가 있는 두 세계 사이를 연결하는 연결망을 상징한다. 또한 그 연결망은 자연을 구하느냐 자연과 함께 천천히 죽어갈 것이냐를 두고 우리가 서 있는 갈림길을 보여준다.

ONE WORLD
Human beings are damaging nature all over the world and we all know that the Earth is in great danger. More people are living in the cities and they are losing their connection to nature. We should think that there is space for everybody - for people, for birds and animals including the smallest insects. Are we living in parallel worlds - in one world people in the industrial cities and nature in the other one? There are too many cars, industry and pollution in the world and it is destroying all living things including the smallest insects and bugs. But there is only ONE WORLD -- for all of us now if we plan for a future.

'Half a tree' is a symbol of a network between these two parallel worlds what should both have a right to exist and to live their life. My work presents a crossroad we are standing on - to save the nature or to die slowly together with it.
