모바일 Mobiles

이목을 끄는 화면들이 장착된 세상.

수많은 일시적 순간들 속에서, 사람들은 지식들을 터치했다고 믿지만, 결국엔, 그것들이 자꾸 우리에게서 빠져나가고 있음을 깨닫게 된다.

프로젝트는 자연이라는 공간에 모빌을 매달아 놓는 것이다. 조형물은 바람에 끊임없이 움직이는 틀-화면의 설정을 환기시킨다. 전선에 매달린 이들은 스스로 켜지기도 하고, 아래위로 움직이다가, 관람객 주변에서 위치를 바꾸기도 한다. 조형물 주위를 걷다 보면, 요소들이 그의 주위를 뱅뱅 돌다가 주의를 빼앗기도 하며, 결국엔 술에 취한 것 마냥 고개를 돌리게 된다.

이들과 함께, 자연(하늘, 식물)에 대한 반사를 더욱 크게 확대시키는 거울도 매달 것이다. 이는 관람객 자신의 이미지도 반사시켜줄 것이다.

틀과 거울의 형태 및 크기는 오늘날 우리와 더욱 더 밀접해진 화면(태블릿, 전화, 컴퓨터, TV)의 포맷을 직접적으로 나타낸다. 그리고 종달새를 비추는 수많은 거울들을 통해, 진실과는 거리가 먼 세상의 단절된 이미지를 보게 된다.

가상의 세계가 증가하고 있는 요즘, 자연적 현실에 항상 귀 기울이기는 쉽지 않다.

지금의 기술시대도 균형을 모색하고 있음은 의심할 나위 없으며, 아마도 미래엔 지금보다 더 완벽한 세상이 올지도 모른다. 이러한 새로운 도구들은 최악으로서 최상을 예시하는, 선사시대의 그것과 같다. 우리의 환경에 대한 인식의 개선과 더불어, 이들은 우리 사회가 앞으로 나아가도록 도움을 줄 수 있다. 하지만, 이들이 지구의 균형에 위협이 되는 것도 사실이다(오염, 갈등, 과소비, 불필요한 과잉생산 등).

설치물의 장소가 어디냐에 따라서, 지면에 고정된 횃대나 나무에 대나무 모빌을 매달 수도 있다. 이들은 크기가 크다(지름 3-5 미터). 지름이 4-5 미터가 되면, 관람객들이 그 안을 걸어다닐 수도 있다. 관람객들은 머리 위에 매달린 거울들을 통해 그 안에 비친 자신의 모습을 볼 수 있다. 이 장치를 설치하기 위해선, 대략 100m2 공간이 필요하다.

거울 크기의 규모는 연속하여 배가될 것이다. 이에 대한 해답은 피보나치 수열의 시작 부분에서 찾을 수 있다(1-1-2-3-5-8-13-21).

대나무 조립으로 만들어진 이 조형물은 거울의 역할로 인해, 매우 옛스러우면서도 현대적인 형태를 제시한다.

World populated by screens that keep catching the attention.

So many fugitive moments where one believes to touch knowledge to finally realize that it keeps escaping us.

The project consists of suspending a set of mobiles in a space of nature. The sculpture evokes a set of frames-screens constantly moving with the wind. Suspended from wires, they would turn on themselves, go up and down, change their position around the visitor... The latter, strolling through the sculpture would let the elements whirl around him, capture his attention, finally make him turn your head to drunkenness.

To these frames would be suspended mirrors multiplying the reflections of nature (sky, vegetation...) alternating with the own image of the viewer himself.

Shapes and sizes of frames and mirrors would directly refer to the formats of screens that accompany us today more and more (tablets, phones, computer, TV...). And who are like so many mirrors to the larks offering us only a truncated image of the world far from its truth.

Living in an increasingly virtual world, it is difficult to stay in tune with the natural reality...

No doubt this new technological era is seeking balance and will perhaps lead to a better mastery in the future. These new tools are like those of prehistory, prefiguring the best as the worst. They can help society move forward with a better awareness of our environment. But also pose a threat to the balance of the planet (pollution, conflicts, excessive consumption, unnecessary overproduction…).

Depending on the chosen installation site, bamboo mobiles could be suspended from trees or perch systems anchored to the ground. They would be large (3 to 5 m in diameter). We could make 4 or 5 so that the visitor can walk in it. The mirrors would be hanging up to the heads so that they can sometimes see themselves inside. The entire device could occupy a space of about 100 m2 on the ground.

The scale of size of the mirrors would play of doubling successively. Their number would answer the beginning of a Fibonacci sequence (1-1-2-3-5-8-13-21).

The sculpture made of bamboo assembled would present at the same time a very archaic and very modern form thanks to the mirrors.
