하나된 세상

인간은 자연에 영향을 미치고, 다방면에서 자연을 손상시키고 있다. 우리 모두는 자연이 커다란 위기에 처해 있다는 것을 알고 있다. 점점 더 많은 사람들이 도시로 이주하며, 자연의 야생적 삶에서 그만큼 멀어져 가고 있다. 늘어나는 차들, 지나친 산업화로 인해 대기 오염이 심화되고 있다. 어딘가에 모두를 위한-인간을 위한, 새들과 가장 작은 곤충들과 벌레들을 포함한 모든 동물들을 위한-공간이 있어야 한다. 가끔 우리는 서로 동떨어진 세계에 살아가는 것 같다. 사람들은 산업화된 도시에, 자연은 또 다른 세상에. 세상엔 너무나 많은 자동차들이 돌아다니고 엄청난 매연이 크고 작은 생명들을 파괴하고 있다. 하지만 사실상 우리는 하나의 세상에서 살아가고 있다. 반쪽 나무는 이렇게 동떨어진 두 세계, 모두 존재하고 생존할 권리가 있는 두 세계 사이를 연결하는 연결망을 상징한다-하나가 되기 위해. 또한 그것은 자연을 구하느냐 자연과 함께 천천히 죽어갈 것이냐를 두고 우리가 서있는 갈림길을 상징하기도 한다.

ONE WORLD

Human beings are influencing and damaging nature all over the world and we all know it is in great danger. More and more people are living in the cities and have lost connection with natural wild-life. There are more and more cars, industry and pollution in their world. One should think that there has to be space for everybody – for people, for birds and animals including smallest insects and beetles. Sometimes it seems that we are living like in parallel worlds – in one world people in the industrial cities and nature in the other one. There are too many cars in the world and too much pollution destroying big and small ones. But there is only ONE WORLD for all of us.
