안테나 Antennae

나는 대략 2미터 높이의 균형잡힌 석조설치물을 제작하고자 한다. “그것을 개조”시키기 위한 현대기술을 이용하여 가상의 온라인 공간에서 가상의 창조물을 공유하고자 한다. 전세계 모든 사람들을 위해 온라인으로 감상할 수 있게 된다. 전시장의 관람객들과는 멀리 떨어져 있기에, 누구나 온라인을 통해 감상할 수 있다.

나는 자연 속에 머무는 동안, 내 주변의 것들을 관찰하는 과정에서 이 작품의 아이디어를 얻었다. 우리는 인터넷과 현대기술을 통해 내가 아닌 다른 세상과 연결되어 있다고 느끼지만, 사실 불행히도, 우리는 기본적으로 자연과의 관계에서 너무나 많은 것들을 잃었다. 우리 가운데 일부는, 자연과 함께하는 동안에도, 자연과 무엇을 그리고 어떻게 상호작용해야 할지 결정하지 못한다.

이러한 설치물을 통해, 나는 다른 이들에게 가능성을 보여주고, 상호작용을 하며(현장에서 작품을 통해 에너지를 확인하고 받는다), 온라인(스트림/방송)을 통해서, 관람객들에게 자연과의 관계 및 이것이 느슨해졌을 때를 생각해 보도록 독려하고 싶다. 무엇 때문인지는 모르지만, 이 프로젝트에서 가상적 파트가 천연의 배경에 설치된 자연적 파트보다도 더 성공적일 것 같다는 느낌을 받는다. 내가 이 부분의 성공을 가정하는 이유는, 노트북이나 태블릿, 혹은 스마트폰을 통해서도 감상이 가능하고, 근래 들어 가장 화제성이 있어 보이는 소셜미디어를 통해서도 공유할 수 있기 때문이다.

나의 석조 프로젝트에 대해, 관람객들은 내가 왜 이 일을 하는지에 대해 종종 묻는다. 나의 대답은 간단하다. 나는 실제하는 장소의 에너지를 수집하고, 이 돌들과 상호작용을 하는 동안에는 설명할 수 없는 느낌을 받게 된다고. 나는 어떤 것들을 사용하고, 또 그것을 얼마나 무엇에 사용할지를 정확히 안다. 그것은 마치 내가 안테나(석조설치물)를 통해 받아들여서 금세 작품을 만들어내는 것을 설명하는 일이다. 나도 마찬가지이지만, 우리 대부분은 시간과 공간에 대한 어떤 특정한 지각을 갖는다. 아무것도 보지도 듣지도 못하는 것이 크게 상관 없을지라도, 결국 전 과정은 나 자신(소우주)과 더 큰 개체 사이의 “텔레파시” 혹은 더 깊은 종류의 연결이다. 이해하기 쉽게, 더 큰 개체를 “신”(대우주)이라 부르자. 우리 주변의 모든 자연과 창조물의 아름다움을 통해 그 자신을 드러내 보인다. 안테나를 바라보는 관람객들은 기억할 것이다. 일단 우리가 자연과 직접 연결되면, 우리가 자연에 지른 첫 번째 불을 기억할 것이라는 사실을.

I would like to build an approx. a 2 meter tall stone balancing installation and through modern technologies to “convert it” also on a virtual creation and to share it on the virtual online space, making it available online for everybody the world. So apart from the viewers of the exhibition, it will be available for everybody online also.

The idea it came from my research observing others around myself while being in nature. While we have the feeling that we are connected through the internet and modern technologies to each other and the world, but unfortunately in the meantime, I noticed that basically, we lost so much from our connection with nature that some of us while being in nature, cannot even decide what and how to interact with it.

With this installation I would like to give the possibility to others also to interact (viewing and receiving the energies through it on site) and online (through the stream/ broadcast), encouraging the viewer to think a bit on his/her connection or loose of his/her connection to the land/nature. Somehow, I have the feeling that the virtual part of the project will have bigger success than the natural one, installed on his natural background, straight in nature. I’m assuming the success of it will be that it can be viewed online using a laptop, tablet or even a mobile phone, it can be shared on social media, which seems to be the main thing nowadays.

I’m often asked by viewers of my stone balancing projects, why I’m doing them? My answer usually is short: I collect the energies of the actual place and I just feel an inexplicable whiling to interact with those stones. I know exactly which ones I have to use, how many and what to do with them. Trying to explain it is something that I receive through the antenna (stone balancing installation) which will be built shortly, interesting even for myself as most of us we have a certain perception about the time and space, which it doesn’t seem matter, as well as doesn’t matter that basically I cannot see or hear nothing, but the full process it’s like an eventually “telepathic” or a deeper kind of connection between myself (microcosmos) and a bigger entity, let’s name it “God” to be on an understandable language (macrocosms) manifested through the beauties of his creation, the nature, which is all over around us. Maybe viewing the ANTENNAE viewers will remember that once we were in a direct connection with nature, they will remember the first fire that we did in nature.
