영상전 작품공모
‘물 Water’

자연과 함께하는 다양한 형식의 미술을 통해 자연과 인간의 조화로운 공존의 미학을 찾아나가는금강자연미술비엔날레에서는 본 전시와 아울러 진행되는 영상전을 위하여 아래와 같이 작품을 공모한다.

물을 주제로 열리는 영상특별전의 작품들은 금강자연미술비엔날레가열리는 공주시의 제민천 주변에 빔프로젝터와 TV모니터를 통해 비엔날레 전시기간 중 전시된다. 백성을 살리는 천이라는 뜻을 담은 ‘제민천’은 공주의 구도심을 따라 흘러내려 금강과 만난다. 삶의 정취가 살아있는제민천 주변 골목길에는 맛 집과 분위기 좋은 카페들이 있어서 젊은이들이 많이 찾는 곳이기도 하다.

물은 지구 생태계의 핵심적인 요소이자 생명의 기본적인 조건이다. 물은 시각적 개념적 대상으로서 미적 표현을 위한 풍부한 영감을 예술가들에게 제공해 주고 있을 뿐만 아니라 철학적의미와 삶의 윤리적 측면을 반영 하는 다양한 상징으로서도 사용되어 왔다. 더욱이 환경 오염에 따른 지구온난화로인해 많은 자연재해가 발생하고 있는 이 시대에 물은 인류의 존폐와 직결되는 이슈가 되고 있다.

이번 영상전에서는 물(수증기, 얼음, 비, 이슬, 강, 바다 등)을 주제로한 현대미술작가들의 다양한 관점을 영상 매체를 통하여 전달하는 작품을 만날 것이다. 물을 주제로한 이번 전시에 인간의 생명과 자연의 생명력을 소중하게 생각하는 마음을 담은 많은 작품이 출품되길 기대하는 바이다.

■ 전시진행

- 선정된 작품은 2016금강자연미술비엔날레 전시기간 중 공주시 제민천 주변 골목길과 교각에 모니터 박스를 비엔날레 진행부에서 설치하여 전시함.

- 설치여건에 따라 여러 사람의 작품이 한 모니터에 순차적으로 상영될 수 있음.

- 선정된 작품의 스틸 이미지는 2016금강자연미술비엔날레 카탈로그에 작가경력과 함께 수록하고 작가 별로 3부씩 발송함.

The7th Geumgang Nature Art Biennale 2016

Video Exhibition

‘Water’

 

Throughvarious forms of art together with nature, we Geumgang Nature Art Biennale whoaim to look for the aesthetics of human and nature's harmonizing coexistencecontests work pieces described below for the Open Air Video Exhibition that will proceed along with main exhibition.

 

Themain theme of special video exhibition is water. The work pieces presented willbe displayed during Biennale through beam projector and TV monitor near Gongjucity, Jemin stream where Geumgang Nature Arts Biennale is held. The name ofJemin stream means it is the stream that saves the people. The stream flowsalong the old city center of Gongju city until it meets Geumgang(river). Thealley around Jemin stream is filled with flavor of humane life, and the alleyis filled with delicious restaurants and moody cafes so the young people comeand go a lot.

 

Wateris the most fundamental factor of nature of earth, and the fundamentalcondition of life. As the visual conceptual object, water not only provideswith inspiration to artists with aesthetics expression, but also it is used asvarious symbol reflecting philosophical definition and the ethical part of ourlives. Furthermore, in this time where due to environmental pollution andglobal warming causing various natural disasters, water is the most importantissue in the question of maintenance of human-being.

 

Inthis special video exhibition, people will be able to appreciate video workpieces conveying various point of view about water(vapor, ice, rain, dew,river, ocean and more)made by modern artists. I hope water-themed exhibitionwill give people to think about the value of human life and the life of natureand value the precious life.

 

 

 

Guidelines for the open competition of

The Geumgang Nature Art Biennale Video Exhibition

■Submission Period :May 1^st -30^th 2016

■Duration of Exhibition: 10^th August - 16^th October 2016

■ Exhibition Venue:

- Original downtown and Jemincheon(small river) in Gongju Korea

■Documents Required:

1. Application form.

2. Video File

(Don’t send us your video file but give us the direct links (ex: youtube, vimeo, etc) where we can see your video file. If you areselected, we will ask you for the original video file.

3. Previous Art Works

- Artists’ website addresses where we can see your previous art works, or portfolio (The portfolio file size should be less than 5 Mb. We do not receive the video file by email. Please give us list of your video works linked on the web page).

* We will reply with a conformation email letter after we receive your application.

■ Selection schedules

- Announcement for selected artists : 30^th June 2016

■ Conditions

- The selected works will be presented by TV monitor or projector in the Gongju city and Geumgang Nature Art center during the Geumgang Nature Art Biennale 2016 exhibition period. Regarding the condition of the site, several works could be played one after another on a monitor.

- A still photo of selected video work will be included in GNAB 2016 catalogue with artist’s simple CV & a short explanation, and
