<석탄 한 덩이 Lump of Coal>

석탄은 고대 식물 잔해에서 형성된 것으로, 덧없음과 자연의 위력을 완전한 검은색 속에 봉인한 상징이다.

폴란드 맥락에서 석탄은 산업 역사와 실레지아(Silesia) 같은 지역의 정체성에 깊이 뿌리내린 소재이기도 하다.

내 어머니도 이 지역 출신인데, 수십 년 동안 석탄은 경제의 기반이자 노동과 진보의 상징이었지만, 동시에 산업화의 짐과 환경적 비용을 의미하기도 했다.

Coal - formed from ancient plant remains - serves as a reminder of transience and the power of nature, sealed in complete blackness.

In the Polish context, it is also a material deeply embedded in the history of industry and the identity of regions such as Silesia, where my mother came from. For decades, 

it was the foundation of the economy, a symbol of labor and progress, but also of the burden of industrialization and its environmental cost.

Coal
