<마음의 공허 Emptiness of Mind>

<Emptiness of Mind>는 인간 두뇌 속 ‘빈 공간(음영 공간)’을 표현한 작품이다.

뇌 속의 뇌실(ventricles)은 일반적으로 뇌를 보호하기 위해 뇌척수액으로 채워져 있다. 이 구조는 CT 스캔을 기반으로 모델링되어 단단한 아크릴 수지로 3D 프린트되었다.

아름답고 유기적인 접힌 형태는 뇌의 진화 과정을 되짚는 구조를 보여준다. 작품은 아마씨유(linseed - oiled)로 마감한 목재 위에 설치되어, 식물 세계와의 연결성과 우리가 그에 의존하고 있다는 사실을 상기시킨다.

Emptiness of Mind represents the negative space within the human brain. The ventricles, are normally filled with cerebrospinal fluid to cushion the brain. 

They were modeled from a CT scan and printed in rigid acrylic resin. The beautiful organic folded structure recapitulates the evolutionary development of the brain. 

It is mounted on linseed - oiled wood to remind us of our connection to and dependence on the plant world.
