<52-Hertz Whales : 유동(流動, Fluktuationen,1964)>

52헤르츠 고래의 파동 단면을 작곡가 윤이상의 《유동(Fluktuationen, 1964)》을 모티브로 삼아 동양적 산수화의 형태로 표현했다. 

타인은 들을 수 없는 이 고래의 주파수는 현대 사회에 만연한 단절과 소통의 부재를 보여주는 애절한 은유다. 

이를 혹독한 겨울을 견뎌낸 영속적인 상처인 '나이테'로 시각화함으로써, 역경을 극복해 낸 보이지 않는 삶의 흔적에 형태를 부여하고자 했다. 

'겨울의 시련을 견뎌낸' 우리의 이야기가 결국 모두에게 공유된 희망의 빛으로 빛날 것이라는 역설을 화면에 제시하고자 한다.

I represented the cross-section of the 52-hertz whale's sound wave in the form of an oriental landscape painting, inspired by composer Isang Yun's Fluktuationen (1964). 

The frequency of this whale, which no one else can hear, serves as a poignant metaphor for the disconnection and lack of communication prevalent in modern society. 

By visualizing this as "annual rings"—the permanent scars that endure a harsh winter—I sought to give form to the invisible traces of life that have overcome adversity. 

I aim to present on the canvas the paradox that our stories, having "withstood the trials of winter," will ultimately shine as a light of hope shared by all.
