<상호 망각의 장소들> Places of Mutual Oblivion

자연미술과 개념사진의 교차점에 위치한 이 작품은 완전히 버려진 인공적·자연적 환경을 배경으로 한다. 

헝가리의 대규모 산업 농업은 정원, 포도밭, 농가가 자리했던 풍경을 거의 완전히 비워냈고, 그 결과 이곳은 사람의 흔적만 남은 황량한 공간이 되었다.

농업에 적합하지 않은 주택과 지역, 즉 경사가 가파른 지형이나 숲, 목초지 등은 방치되었다. 주택과 토지의 소유주들은 경작하기 쉬운 평탄한 토지를 대규모 농업인들에게 임대하고, 자신들은 도시에서 일자리를 찾을 수 있게 되었다. 

밭은 여전히 활발하게 경작되고 있지만, 농가는 서서히 버려진 생명체처럼 자연과 뒤섞여 간다. 그리고 그곳을 한때 만들고 살아갔던 사람들의 존재를 완전히 잊어간다. 이러한 장소는 서로가 서로를 잊어가는 ‘상호 망각의 장소’​가 된다.

나는 이러한 장소에 망각의 과정을 일시적으로 중단시키는 흔적을 남긴다. 그것은 부재의 은유이자, 도시화가 농촌 풍경 속에서 어떻게 ‘결핍’의 형태로 나타나는지를 반영하는 흔적이다. 

현장에서 발견한 자연 재료와 함께, 발견된 사물 역시 중요한 요소로 등장한다. 마치 랜드아트의 레디메이드처럼 기능하는 이러한 사물들은 한때 이곳에 살며 장소를 만들고 변화시켰던 사람들과 그들이 살아간 시대에 관한 이야기를 들려준다.

The works, situated at the intersection of nature art and conceptual photography, are set within a completely abandoned built and natural environment, where large-scale industrial agriculture in Hungary has led to an almost entirely deserted 

landscape of gardens, vineyards, and homesteads. The houses and areas unsuitable for agricultural work (steep terrain, forests, pastures) have been left behind. The owners of the houses and plots have leased the easily cultivable, flat lands to

larger farmers, allowing them to seek employment in the city. While the fields remain under active cultivation, the homesteads slowly merge with nature like abandoned living organisms, completely forgetting those who once created them: 

sites of mutual forgetting. In these locations, I leave behind traces that temporarily interrupt the process of forgetting — metaphors of absence that reflect how urbanization manifests itself as a lack within the rural landscape. 

Alongside natural materials found on site, found objects are often emphasized — like land-art ready-mades — telling stories about the era and the people who once inhabited and shaped these places.
