<깊은 강은 고요히 흐른다> Deep Rivers Run Quiet

지도 제작은 영토를 질서화하고 공간에 의미를 부여하며, 땅과 물, 인간의 관계를 구성하는 체계이다. 마지널리아(Marginalia) 프로젝트는 이러한 지도 제작의 관점을 강의 가장자리로 옮겨, 고정된 경계와 지배적인 서사를 넘어 페루 안데스의 고도에 따른 식물의 생명을 기록한다.

〈깊은 강은 고요히 흐른다〉는 이 현장 특정적 프로젝트의 일부로, 목화 종이에 식물을 활용한 에코 프린팅 기법으로 제작되었다. 우루밤바강 유역의 서로 다른 고도에서 채집한 식물들이 사용되었으며, 해발 3,000m에서 채집한 페루산 키위차, 퀴노아, 감자 잎 등이 포함된다. 작품은 강의 한 조각이 되어 식물, 물, 광물, 영토의 상호의존성을 드러내며, 생태적 연결과 문화적 기억이 서로 분리될 수 없는 풍경을 보여준다.

Cartography is a system that orders territory, assigns meaning to space, and constructs relationships between land, water, and human presence. Emerging from the environmental tensions affecting these ecosystems, the Marginalia project shifts mapping toward the river’s edges, tracing botanical life across the altitudes of the Peruvian Andes, beyond fixed borders and dominant narratives.

Deep Rivers Run Quiet is part of this in-situ project. Created through botanical eco-printing on cotton paper, the work incorporates plant species collected at different altitudes along the banks of the Urubamba River, including Peruvian kiwicha, 

quinoa, and potato foliage gathered at 3,000 m.a.s.l. The work becomes a fragment of the river, revealing the interdependence between plant matter, water, minerals and territory, and forming a landscape where ecological interconnection and 

cultural memory become inseparable.
