<고봉밥> Gobongbap (Heaping Rice)

동학농민혁명 당시 동학농민군이 일본군·관군에 맞서 최대 격전을 벌였던 장소가 바로 우금티(우금치) 전적지이다. 이 우금티가 위치한 금학동은 제민천의 발원지이기도 하다.

제민천 물줄기를 따라 도심으로 이어지는 대통교 인근에 동학군의 영혼을 달래기 위한 한국 전통 방식의 '고봉밥' 작품을 제작·설치하여, 도시와 자연을 잇는 메시지를 전한다.

During the Donghak Peasant Revolution, Ugeumti (Ugeumchi) was the site of one of the fiercest battles between the Donghak Peasant Army and the Japanese and government forces. Geumhak-dong, where Ugeumti is located, is also the source of the Jemincheon Stream.

Near Daetonggyo Bridge, where the Jemincheon Stream flows toward the city center, the work Gobongbap is created and installed in the traditional Korean form of a generously heaped bowl of rice, intended to comfort and honor the spirits of 

the Donghak peasant soldiers. Through this work, the artist conveys a message of connection between the city and nature.
